Exit Interview

Which assignments did you enjoy and why?
All the Minecraft ones, and the grid related Animate CC tutorials.

Which assignments did you struggle with and why?
Most of the assignments. Most memorably the Animate CC tutorials as I was trying to do them TOO well, and the animate CC masks.

Sum up your IT experience
     ... What did you learn?

I learned masking, and how to use Animate CC, and a lil' bit of HTML.

... What should you have done to do better?
NOT be a perfectionist and come to terms with handing in quick, careless work.

If you were to take IT in the future, what would you like to explore?
Hardware. I have no idea how a computer works or runs and I think it would be super interesting to learn. Maybe even learn how to build a computer or something....

Game Journalism Day 2 - SURVIVE

1. The challenge is still the same challenge. Travel to the Summit of Timberwolf Mountain to retrieve the Distress Pistol before then traveling up to the top of Desolation Point Lighthouse.

2. I walked from the Oil Building all the way through the winding ice ways, until I came to two forks, and both times I went left. The last fork led me to a snowy path which then led me straight into a cave. Wandering through this cave I noticed that my Fatigue bar was pretty low, as well as my hunger and thirst. So I stopped and set up a fire, cooking the meat I'd grabbed from a frozen deer and a cup of coffee. I drank the coffee as well as ate an energy bar and some jerky(I like to save the meat for when I desperately need it. Lots of nutrients). I then put enough wood to make it last 2 hours and a bit, slept 2 hours, put more wood on the fire, ate a bit more so I wouldn't starve in my sleep, and went back to sleep for three hours. I spent the rest of the fire melting .50 liters of snow, and then purifying the same .50 until the fire ran out. I then lit my lantern again and continued out of the cave, eventually finding my way out. I then headed down this path with snow drifts on either side, and encountered two wolves wandering around. I almost snuck around them but one ended up seeing me and gave chase. I pulled out my pebbles and threw two before it got scared off. My backpack is too heavy to run so when it stopped being scared it was still within range to spot me again so it came right back. I threw my last pebble but I missed by just a small bit and the wolf attacked me. I started fighting it with the hatchet and the wolf took off. I tried to escape then, but not fast enough for his friend not to spot me. I just kept walking away from it as fast as I could and checking back on it. I would hear it bark and eventually, it stopped barking. I turned around and it had left me alone so I ran a bit more with my bitten ankle before actually taking pain killers for it. I had a couple snacks too including a nice big cooked piece of venison. After drinking some water to finish off my num-num session, I continued down the path and eventually found a store and a lil' house.

     Store

     Lil' house

I just happened to be running out of food so the store stash saved me. I took everything I could including breaking down some crates for fire wood. I then slept and tried to keep my temperature in the house. By the time I woke up there was daylight... And a snow storm. Gentle though so it wasn't a problem. I retraced my steps all the way back to the fork in the road and instead went left. That led me to the farm I am at right now. I checked the little car at the front and then a bunny scared me. I thought it was a wolf and I was worried I'd be trapped in some small car. I then wandered all the way across the field and to the barn.

Currently I have just placed my bed roll just to save and things are looking good. For survival. I'm not sure I'll have enough time to actually get to Timberwolf, get the Distress Pistol, and traverse the snowy hills and icey lakes to make it to the top of the lighthouse.

3. Charcoal is actually kind of interesting, although it may be useless depending on how you're playing the game. You can use charcoal to chart your surroundings, like I've done below. it even shows you interesting things like wood or moss apparently.

4. Always empty out medical kits. Take everything. You never know when your character may slip or trip and sprain your ankle or wrist. And the emergency stim gives you a boost of energy and fatigue, meaning you can run or climb much easier. And pebbles. Flares can scare away animals, but aren't as common to find as Stones. You can pick them up pretty much anywhere and they scare off smaller animals like wolves just as nicely.

Game Journalism Day 1 - BEGIN

1.The challenge is Hopeless Rescue. I have to travel to the Summit of Timberwolf Mountain and retrieve the Distress Pistol. I then have to find my way all the way to the top of the Desolation Point lighthouse.

Apparently a lot of people can't figure out the safe, but all you need to do is turn it till the lock clicks and it shows the unlock symbol. Go slowly.

2. Today I just unlocked the safe and was too chicken to leave the main area. Eventually I left the starter cabin with my hunting rifle in hand and only two bullets loaded. I wandered around and eventually came to some train tracks and followed those out of the area. I followed those until I came across a knocked over train and took the stuff lying along the ground and continued along the track. I saw something moving ahead. Wolves. Only one saw me and for some reason my gun glitched out and didn't allow me to shoot. My friend helped me fix it but my aim is terrible so I missed it completely. Luckily however, I was able to run away from it to the point it became disinterested. I thought I saw a cabin in the distance, but when I headed towards it I learned it was rocks. now being forced off the tracks I followed them from a distance. Now a bear was by them and I was sure two bullets wouldn't be enough. I avoided it and went around it. At some point I was attacked by a different wolf and killed due to been strongly fatigued and not strong enough. I started over and currently need to leave the main area still.

3. WASD is to move, Tab shows me my stats, Shift while moving allows me to run, Ctrl allows me to crouch, Space opens a hotbar menu, M is a map, 2 is the weapon button, 1 is the light source button, strongest to weakest. The left mouse button is grab/use/shoot, so basically the main button, and the right mouse button aims or puts stuff down.

Questions - Day 3

School
1. Flex is something we should definitely keep around. I rely so heavily on it to actually get my work in on time that if it were to be taken away I'd be screwed, and very extremely behind. Another thing is get councilors that actually do something. Currently we only have one councilor and, rumor has it, she's shifting to another school that has "no councilors", leaving our school with, ironically enough, no councilors. This cannot be allowed to continue. I know it's not even really the school's fault, but students are going to get tired of relaying the same story to a new person every month. Most didn't even want to tell even one person, let alone 5 different people. What I'm saying is, it's not fair to the students, speaking from experience, and the school board should get its stuff together.

2. Definitely think councilors should be looked at, and the terribly tiny amount of sports teams. I know it's difficult to get going if everyone is lazy, but everyone is lazy because all the athletes went to other schools for the sports teams. It's a double line, so I'm not sure how actually possible it is.

World
1.  Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union explodes at the NSW government for the NSW bus factory closed, causing the loss of 161 jobs.

2. The 2018 Winter Olympics will be held in South Korea on February 9.

Space
3.

The last Super Blue Blood Moon occurred some time during the year of 1866, and the next one will not be until December 31, 2028.

Blood Moon Day 1

A blood moon is basically a normal moon that passes through the shadow of earth, and is practically a total eclipse, named so because of the red glow it emits during the time it's in the earth's shadow.
